Photocaddie Story

The concept of Photocaddie originated while playing cricket in the backyard with one of my sons. He struggled to coordinate his body and feet correctly to hit a cover drive. I propped my iphone on a ladder and videoed him batting. I then videoed myself hitting a cover drive and showed him both videos outlining the difference in technique. He instantly got it. He went back to the crease and smashed a perfect cover drive.

This moment highlighted the immense value of video feedback in sport training. I tested the same idea at the golf range the next day with him. I videoed his swing, and then compared it side by side to Tiger Woods’ swing. He understood straight away what was wrong with his body posture even before he hit the ball. He adjusted and instantly started hitting better. It was another pure light blub moment.

The idea of the Photocaddie was born. 65% of people are visual learners. I developed a prototype that allowed us to video ourselves without holding the camera. After several prototypes, the Photocaddie evolved into a stylish easy to use device for the golf course, at the range or in the backyard.
